General English is the perfect course for students who wish to improve their communication. That is, talking with people over a wide range of topics and everyday situations. Our General English courses are suitable for students over the age of 16 who would like to improve their use of English. Students can do this whilst living, studying or working in the United Kingdom.

A typical general English class would cover all aspects of English. This, generally, includes grammar, speaking, reading, writing and listening. The maximum number of students in each class is 16 but, on average, there are about 8-10 students per class.

Most importantly, our teachers care about your progress. Upon arrival, students are tested and placed into the appropriate level. Additionally, on the first day, students will discuss goals with the Director of Studies. Thereafter, students will do a test every five weeks and discuss their progress with their teacher.

Specifically, this course aims to give students the confidence they require to successfully work within the Aviation industry.

This course aims to:

CLIL course is a teacher development course aimed at clarifying the concepts of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This type of education allows teachers to help students learn both the subject content -History, Geography, and Science for instance- and English at the same time, providing opportunities for a full-immersion language learning experience.

Teachers on this course will be discussing and exploring a variety of teaching practices and methodologies. The sessions will cover subjects such as the following:

These courses focus on developing the language skills and functions necessary to perform successfully in a variety of work contexts and situations. School's experienced and dedicated teachers use realistic role-plays to teach the language used in work environments.

Your English classes will, then, be complemented by an English for Work Booster Class. When learning English, students’ skills improve at different rates. So, students will spend 1 lesson each day focussing on improving a single skill. These skills could include CV writing, telephone skills or Interview skills.

-Prepare students to give presentations using key terminology and language functions specific to medical English;

-Develop the way to communicate with patients and reassure patients.

Rose of York can tailor these classes to the needs of individuals or groups and age ranges of students.

The English for kids course combines morning classes and afternoon activities. In the morning, students study new language and skills through tasks and exercises. In the afternoons, students go on trips and visits. Students will go to the tourist sights and museums available to us here in Central London. Finally, on Saturdays, students will have the opportunity to visit towns and cities outside of London to see the cultural diversity that is the United Kingdom.

Additionally, students can stay in homestay accommodation. Therefore, students can continue their learning outside the classroom. Ultimately, they will be able to learn more about British culture and living in the UK. And, students will make new friends from around the world!

Cambridge Exam Preparation is the other popular English Exam preparation course. The Cambridge exams are separated by level from lowest to highest: PET, FCE and CAE. Alternatively, students can prepare for the Cambridge Business Exams (BEC). Students might need to prove their level of English in the workplace. Therefore, Cambridge Business Exams offer are a great option. Additionally, Cambridge Exam Certificates never expire. Therefore, you will have proof of your English level for life. However, some institutions might not accept the certificate if it is “old” (that is, if it’s more than 2 years old).

Many universities or companies might require proof of your English level. Therefore, the Cambridge is widely accepted in most countries.
