Our General English courses are designed for people who want to learn English for work, study or pleasure. We have students of all ages, from 16 upwards, from all over the world. The classes focus on all aspects of the language, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students can add to these lessons in the elective classes. These classes build on the language from the main sessions, with a focus on communication and practical skills. All our lessons give students the opportunity to learn and use English in realistic situations, and our teachers give regular homework to help you practice.
Our IELTS Preparation courses are for people with a good level of English who want to make further progress in the language whilst preparing for the IELTS test, for work, study or immigration. At Burlington School, we have been preparing our students for the IELTS test for many years, and we have an in-depth knowledge of needs of candidates and the demands of the test. Our IELTS Preparation course is designed to meet these needs. We believe there are three main areas that students should work on when preparing for any test: overall language improvement, specific exam-related language improvement (this includes the grammar and vocabulary that the exam focuses on, as well as study skills and exam skills), and authentic exam practice.

As always, our students are offered the full package: a true community space where they can eat, sleep, socialise and study – all under one roof – as well as get to know the city in greater depth through authentic interaction with the surrounding area, shared by a diverse population of Londoners and a range of vibrant local businesses.

Drapery Place (formerly known as Drapery Plaza) is ideally located for you to make the most of student life in London, with many of the city’s universities easily reached by public transport.
There’s a wide range of high-quality rooms to choose from. Opt for an en-suite, and you’ll have your bathroom, plus a fully fitted kitchen and living room to share with your flatmates. Pick a studio, however, and you’ll have everything to yourself. Want to share with a friend? One of the twin studios might be the best choice for you.

Wake up in your big, comfortable bed and enjoy your free WiFi and smart TV. If you fancy a change of scenery, you can use any of residence's study spaces that are perfect for getting your work done.
Located on Portal Way, in North Acton, it’s safe to say the Lyra feels far away from the hustle and bustle of central London. That makes it a great choice for any student looking for a place to escape the busy inner city’s constant rhythm and noise. But just because the Lyra isn’t on the banks of the Thames doesn’t mean it’s remote.
With North Acton Station so close by, you’ll be in central London in no time. Likewise, the Lyra is centrally located, near both the University College London and Imperial College London — making it a great option for students of those two universities. Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s are close by, and Costa Coffee is only a few streets away — on Victoria Road.
