On the General English course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week, which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as teachers train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
This course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.
Taking the time to seriously focus on your English will open up unlimited opportunities for you. You will develop fluency, accuracy and appropriate uses of English across all four language skills. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education.
Studying abroad will also give you incredible experiences. You will challenge yourself, become more independent and make lasting international friendships.
Lessons per week: 20 (15 hours), 30 (22.5 hours). 20 lessons of General English + 10 Special Focus lessons.
Course duration: 24 weeks minimum

In a homestay you will live with local English speakers, and experience an authentic lifestyle. You will live as your hosts live, eat what they eat and spend time at home together. Many students enjoy the homecooked food and extra feeling of security in a homestay. Staying with local people means you will practise your English with native speakers at home in a very natural way.
Learn more about the local culture and be exposed to a rich variety of cultural learning opportunities. Experience day-to-day family life: activities, holiday celebrations and local cuisine. Get personal care and attention in a caring, comfortable, home environment. Staying in a home means you always have someone there to support you. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere at home. Living with your host will give you stability, plus a quiet and peaceful environment for relaxation and study.

Brighton's Seafront Residence is located across the road from the beach and a short walk to the pier and city centre. Brighton’s main attractions, shops and famous nightlife are only a short leisurely walk away. You will find a mixed gender residence offering single rooms. All bedrooms have ensuite showering facilities, underfloor heating and a wall mounted flat screen television. There is a large, fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.
Seafront is a 5 minute walk from EC Brighton, or a 2 minute journey using public transport. It is a 16 minute walk from the city centre or a 12 minute journey using public transport. Male and female students share common areas and facilities, but bedrooms and bathrooms are single gender.
Mitre House is located in the very centre of Brighton, a short walk from the beach and very close to the main shopping centre of Brighton. It is perfectly located for easy access to Brighton’s main attractions, shops and famous nightlife. You will find a mixed gender residence offering single occupancy of double rooms. All bedrooms have en-suite showering/toilet facilities. Rooms share communal kitchen/TV lounges. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. There is a student lounge with a TV, and vending machines with snacks and cold/hot drinks.
Mitre House is a 15 minute walk from EC Brighton or a 11 minute journey using public transport. It is a 7 minute walk from the city centre or a 7 minute journey using public transport to Mitre House.
