The New York Film Academy was founded on the philosophy that "learning by doing" combined with best industry practices is more valuable than years of theoretical study for filmmakers and actors. This educational model allows students to achieve more in less time than at all other film or acting schools in the world.
For those considering sharpening their skills, the New York Film Academy offers a wide selection of immersive, hands-on workshops, where working industry professionals teach students to create their own original work using the latest techniques, industry-standard equipment, and premier facilities. Students interested an intensive short-term workshop can choose from topics in filmmaking, acting for film, photography, producing, screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, broadcast journalism, 3D animation, digital editing, game design, virtual reality, and musical theatre.
Each program is structured for students who want intensive training from award-winning faculty, using professional facilities and equipment starting their first day of classes; better preparing them for a career in the motion picture and entertainment industries. In the first year of any of our filmmaking programs each student will write, shoot, direct and edit eight films and work as crew on 28 more!

The New York Film Academy’s 4-Week Digital Editing Workshops and 12-Week Evening Digital Editing Workshops provide students with hands-on instruction in editing theory, techniques and the fundamentals of digital editing. Students gain hands-on experience by editing various projects with footage provided to them in class. They also learn various theoretical concepts of editing and how to practically apply those theories.

The New York Film Academy’s Documentary Filmmaking School strives to instill students with the artistic and professional skills they need to become documentary filmmakers. Grads from the Academy’s Documentary Filmmaking School enter this fast-breaking industry prepared to excel; they are equipped with skills and knowledge that make them stand out from the crowd. Past students have earned an Emmy Award, Academy Award nomination, honors at Sundance and numerous other major festivals, as well as positions with Morgan Spurlock, Robert Redford, VICE, Rolling Stone, HBO, October Films, Alex Gibney, and many others.

The objective of the 12-week photography workshop is to develop core photography skills through the integration of technical study, a wide variety of shooting assignments, and aesthetic and technical analysis.
As NYFA photography workshop students master core elements of the craft through constant shooting, editing, and critique, they are immersed in master works across every genre in the history of the medium. Students also shoot assignments in multiple genres, including fine art, documentary, fashion, street photography, studio and location portraiture, editorial, advertising, and other commercial styles.
Please note:
All students are required to bring with them to the photography workshops a digital camera with manual exposure control.

I liked everything very much! All the teachers were true professionals. The school itself was very modern, with comfortable classrooms. A large number of textbooks and additional materials for training. I'm very pleased with everything!
