Bucksmore Plumpton College is located only 20 minutes away from the seaside town of Brighton.
Located in the delightful South Downs, 260 sq miles of beautiful rolling chalk hills, 20 minutes outside of Brighton, Bucksmore Plumpton College is an agricultural boarding school in the beautiful countryside. Students can take in the picturesque view on their doorstep every day.
Bucksmore Plumpton College has its own fully-functional animal farm, highly-regarded horse riding stables, an animal care center, where sick animals are nursed back to health, a vineyard, and soft cheese making facilities. The school also is surrounded by acres of open space, sports fields, and wondrous views of the surrounding South Downs hillside.
This school has many features. Outside of the computer programming classes that take place on Bucksmore Coding, all Plumpton students can use the high-quality computer labs in their free time. Bucksmore Plumpton College has a sports hall, tennis courts, and indoor rock climbing wall. Horse riding is available as an optional extra to all students: Plumpton boasts one of the best horse riding in the south of England.
Bucksmore Coding provides students of all language abilities with the opportunity to combine English language tuition with learning the fundamental elements of software design.
This is a unique opportunity for students to bring together two key languages for the future: English and programming. The course runs as part of the larger Bucksmore Summer programme, with the addition of 7.5 hours of coding classes in a modern computer laboratory in place of English lessons.
As an introduction to computer programming, the course uses the innovative Raspberry Pi as a learning tool. The Raspberry Pi is a miniaturised computer that allows anyone to explore the essentials of computing.
This residential course combines 20 hours of English classes per week and a fun-filled activity and excursion programme. This is perfect for students wanting to experience a countryside boarding school environment whilst improving their learning techniques, exam preparation skills and teamwork abilities.
The syllabus incorporates language study, language for life, project sessions, excursion link lessons and academic skills sessions.
The language study lessons focus on the communicative style of language learning and provide grammar and vocabulary tailored to a student’s ability. Whereas language for life lessons integrate a wider range of topics including learner training, literacy, culture and life skills.
Bucky Adventure is a summer school experience that combines English language with adventure activities such as sailing, mountain biking and kayaking.
With great access to water sports and adventure facilities in the local area, students are able to go hiking, mountain biking and take advantage of the water sports available. No experience is necessary to take part in any of the fantastic adventure activities!
