On this course students expand their business related vocabulary and skills in English while at the same time improving overall grammatical accuracy and communicative competence. Students improve their business communication vocabulary and ability to speak about a wide variety of business topics. Our flexible, rolling enrolment option allows students to start every Monday.

The Academic Year Programme is aimed at students who need to improve their general English in addition to taking an internationally recognised English exam.

All students on the Academic Year Programme complete their course by taking a recognised exam such as Cambridge FCE or CAE or IELTS. Courses on the Academic Year programme have been approved for inclusion on the Internationalisation Register of Programmes recognised by the Ministry of Education and Skills for purposes of access to employment by students from outside the EU / EEA and Switzerland.

You can choose one of four exams:

• Cambridge PET / FCE / CAE;

• IELTS;

• Trinity College of London ISE;

• TIE.

Two-week teacher training programme offers 50 hours of practical training in the most-up-to date teaching techniques while also helping participants to improve their own language skills.

You can choose one of four course types:

• Standard Teacher Training Course;

• CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) Preparation Course;

• TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) Preparation Course.

Participants explore a wide range of topics including teaching methodology, exploiting and adapting materials, the increased role of technology in the language classroom, classroom management and approaches and activities for teaching all language areas and skills, in addition to teaching observation sessions followed by feedback meetings.

Classes on Irish history, culture and the Irish educational system in addition to a full social and activity programme also form part of this intensive and dynamic course.

CEC's General English Courses focus on effective communication and include comprehensive work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Vocabulary is introduced and practised at every stage of the lesson and particular attention is paid to high frequency, internationally useful words and phrases. Special emphasis is given to communicating effectively and accurately and error correction plays an important role in classes. New language is practised through meaningful speaking tasks and discussions, which include regular integrated work on pronunciation. By the end of the course, students will be better able to use English more accurately and effectively and with more confidence.
