The Scuola Leonardo da Vinci® school in Florence is located in a historical Palazzo, in the heart of the city of Florence, with a magnificent view of the Cathedral. From here you can reach the most beautiful and famous places in the city in only a few minutes walk
This Italian language school in Florence occupies an entire building of 3 floors with 15 spacious and light classrooms. On the ground floor, there is a cafeteria where you can have a coffee with your friends, read newspapers or do your homework.
The intensive Italian language course is our standard course, and consists of 4 Italian lessons a day, totaling 20 lessons a week.
The lessons are held from Monday to Friday in groups of no more than 14 students, led by qualified teachers, who are passionate about their work.
The lessons begin every Monday for students that already have some knowledge of the Italian language, and every two weeks for absolute beginners.
Lessons in Leonardo da Vinci are principally based on spoken communication, but also deal with the more formal aspects of the language (lexis/vocabulary and grammar). Lots of time is dedicated to activities that encourage dialogue and discussion about various topics, from art and literature to modern city culture.
Textbooks are provided by the school and are included in the price of the course.

In 48 weeks you learn the Italian language, starting from the basics, and ending with a high level of expertise, that you can finish off with a certificate exam to prove the level of knowledge achieved.
Studying for a year in Italy truly offers the possibility to achieve the highest level of Italian, as indicated in the assessment table of the European Language Portfolio, at an excellent price:
those who book 48-week intensive course will profit from an extraordinary reduction in price: 120 euros a week, instead of 220 euros.
Lessons start every Monday for students who already have some knowledge of the Italian language, and every 2 weeks for students who are absolute beginners.
In addition to the studying, the expertise of the school's staff and the constant assistance available from the school's secretaries throughout your stay, there is still lots of time for socializing and fun: the school organizes a rich programme of activities, changing every week, that are offered alongside the Italian courses.
At the weekends, you can go on excursions and trips organized by the school, to see the most interesting attractions of the area, or you can organize trips yourself to explore the surrounding areas, or to relax.
The «Gap Semester» Course includes all that a foreign student is looking for: to live several months in Italy, to dive into Italian culture, to take part in language and cultural courses, and to conclude his Italian experience with an Italian language certificate.
Since he will spend a prolonged time in Italy, he will be able to experience more of Italian culture and have more time to practice his Italian in real-life situations while visiting monuments and socializing with Italians.
This course is particularly suitable for absolute beginners of the Italian language and for participants with intermediate knowledge.
The "Gap Semester" course is held from Monday to Friday and includes:
- 16 weeks of Intensive Italian language course, 4 lessons/day (20 lessons per week), a total of 320 lessons.
- Preparation course for the Italian Language Diploma examination: 40 lessons.
- 2 weeks of cultural courses (Art History, Literature, Fashion): 20 lessons.
- During the last 4 weeks of the «Gap Semester», students will participate in the preparation course for the «Firenze» Italian language Diploma Examination of the Accademia Italiana di Lingua - AIL. The exam coincides with the last school day and the Diploma will be sent to the student after his return back home.
All students are free to take part in the weekly cultural and social activities organized by the school.

These are apartments where students of Scuola Leonardo da Vinci live together sharing common spaces such as the kitchen and bathroom. Students can choose whether to stay alone in a single room or share a space with another student in a double room. If a student wishes to come to Florence together with a partner who does not attend the course, school may provide the opportunity to book a double room together. The apartments offered by Scuola Leonardo da Vinci in Florence are located in the city centre or in a residential area of Florence (maximum travel time of 30 minutes by public transport to and from the school).

"La Mamma Italiana!" For those who want to immerse themselves in the Italian language and culture, the kind of accommodation and experience recommended is definitely the “Family”. Most of the families that host school's students have collaborated with Scuola Leonardo da Vinci in Florence for many years and for this they have a lot of experience in welcoming students from all parts of the world. Students may choose from two options: either half board (breakfast and dinner included) or breakfast only (in the second option students are not allowed to use the kitchen). The families are usually found near the school or in residential areas of the city with a maximum travel time of 30 minutes by public transport to and from the school. This type of accommodation requires some flexibility and adaptability to different habits however, it is definitely recommended for learning the language, customs and Italian manners. School's families are carefully selected and are eager to make their guests feel right at home.
