UCLA Extension will require all international students to have insurance coverage for the duration of their program. Students will be required to provide proof of insurance and acknowledge international student health insurance requirements during the immigration check-in their first quarter at UCLA Extension and as part of their Returning International Student Application that they will complete for each quarter that they continue to study in a UCLA Extension program.

The Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP) is a 9-level, full-time program that emphasizes all major language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students receive an award of completion as well as university transferable credit at the upper levels.
Why the AIEP at UCLA Extension?
- Prepares international students for American colleges and universities;
- Focuses on reading, writing, and grammar;
- Prepare for the TOEFL and IELTS tests;
- Study in one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles: Westwood Village.
The UCLA Extension American Language Center (ALC) has established conditional admission agreements with a number of colleges and universities.
These institutions have agreed to waive TOEFL, IELTS, and other standardized language proficiency assessments if students have successfully completed an advanced level of the ALC Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP) with a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) or better. Community College partners accept completion of level 105, and university partners accept 107 unless otherwise specified.
If you are coming from another country to study in the Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP), you will need a student F-1 visa.
