CHANGING LIVES THROUGH LANGUAGE
Since 1961, ELS has helped more than 1.2 million students from over 143 countries around the world learn English quickly and effectively. Our goal is to prepare our students to compete, excel, and achieve in the global workplace by offering English language and competencies training.
Students experience both fast-paced city life in Chicago, the largest city in the Midwest, and suburban life in River Forest, Illinois. The location for these English classes in Chicago is the beautiful ivy-covered campus of Dominican University.
Nearby, Chicago offers a vast array of exciting activities that students expect from a major city. They include famous pizza joints, ethnic foods and fine dining, world-famous museums, regular music festivals and outdoor concerts, sporting events, and ice skating in the winter. Our Semi-Intensive English language program offers students the opportunity to study English in the United States, while also having the freedom to explore and experience the culture. This is done through a structured schedule, where students attend English classes during the morning and have the afternoons to themselves, allowing them to meet new friends, visit landmarks or plan trips to exciting new places.

Our homestays are located in historic Chicago neighborhoods within easy walking or cycling distance of the ELS Center. Located on the outskirts of Chicago, homestays provide a safe, quiet place to live and experience American life and culture. Homestay communities are connected by an extensive public transportation network of buses, trains, and two subway lines to provide easy access to the campus and the city.
