The Cote d’Azur (or French Riviera) is known for its chic elegance, superb year-round climate and wonderful, fresh food. It is the ultimate playground for the rich and famous, especially during the busy summer months of July and August. Yet, it remains surprisingly affordable. Its natural attractions include the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea, after which the region is named.
The sandy beaches and wonderful shades of light have inspired many world-famous artists, including Cezanne, Picasso and Van Gogh, to create their masterpieces. It is a sporting paradise – swimming, diving, water-skiing, climbing, hill-walking and many other active pursuits are easily accessible. Or, for those who prefer a more sedate life-style, why not people-watch whilst enjoying a coffee at a traditional street café?
