Playa del Carmen's surroundings are composed of a tropical jungle and white-sand beaches.
Simply known as “Playa,” this small Caribbean fishing village on the Mayan Riviera is Cancun’s laid-back neighbor (approximately 35 minutes from Cancun’s international airport and 40 minutes from Tulum). Playa is a great place to enjoy the cultural and historic richness of Mexico and the Mayan people. It attracts people from all over the world because of its relaxed, tropical atmosphere and its unmatched beautiful beaches.
Despite a rapidly growing population and increased popularity as a tourist destination, the residents of “Playa” are committed to maintaining their city’s bohemian charm and relaxed pace.
Our school in Playa del Carmen is just 6 blocks from the white sand beaches. Better yet, classes are held outside under thatched roofs amidst our own tropical gardens, so you can enjoy the full Caribbean experience. The school boasts a well-stocked library, open air and air conditioned conference rooms, a cafeteria, volleyball court and garden areas to relax during breaks or after a day of classes.
During the conversation hours, lectures are given on Mexican history, Mayan Culture, national holidays, etc. In the afternoons we off er workshops and activities that include cooking, arts and crafts, salsa classes, singing Mexican songs, a fi esta or a picnic. A movie is shown every week and with Playa’s great location, you can enjoy a great variety of excursions: Tulum, Xcaret, Chichen-Itza...
There is a lot to explore around Playa del Carmen. You can hop on the ferry to Cozumel for world class scuba diving, explore an abundance of nearby Mayan ruins or head to Cancún for shopping and wild nightlife. Best of all are the city’s white sands, crystal clear Caribbean waters and lush tropical vegetation that will make up your day-to-day landscape. It’s a heavenly setting for learning about Mexican-Caribbean culture while immersing yourself in the Spanish language.
The Intensive Spanish course is undoubtedly our most popular class because it is designed to help students learn Spanish as quickly as possible through constant interaction. The classes are given entirely in Spanish in all levels, from beginning to advanced, so that students are divided according to their skill levels.
Intensive Spanish courses are taught using an interactive teaching method which means that, whenever possible, professors will use practical situations requiring student interaction and communication. This communicative teaching method has been constantly refined over the years and is now an integral part of don Quijote’s success.
Intensive Spanish classes focus on all aspects of the Spanish language and theory, from grammar exercises to reading, writing, listening and communication skills. Students may practice Spanish through a wide variety of activities including debates, newspaper articles, current affairs, games, mock telephone conversations, interviews, films and documentaries, listening to songs and, of course, real life situations and events.

I don't need housing
Our host families are carefully selected and many have worked with us since we began. Our families are fully aware of what it means to be a good host and making our students feel at home the moment they step in the door. Our students receive keys to the home where they live which guarantees total flexibility and the freedom to come and go as they please.
Student residences are located in the city center and offer individual, shared or triple rooms with half meal options. There are different types of student’s residences depending on preferences and availability. A university residence hall offers students the possibility to live with Spaniards who are also living and studying in the city as students. They are usually university run and are large in size. Student residences are smaller residences which may be very similar to living in large shared apartments with the main difference being that students will not be responsible for preparing their own food. These residences are open to students from all over the world, not necessarily studying at don Quiojte.
Student apartments are a simple yet complete housing option. Equipped with essential features like a bed, desk, chair, closet and nightstand you will have a comfortable bedroom for sleeping and studying. Up to six students can live in a shared apartment. Students will be responsible for purchasing and preparing their own food.
We strongly recommend you to book your flight only after your participation in a course and visa are confirmed.

I loved the way I was treated at the school. Great experience.
I never felt insecure. People spoke very proper Spanish. I didn't feel like I was attending school, because there were no enclosed classrooms. Truly a very good place.
The school organized lots of extracurricular activities, and it was a perfect way to get to know the other students. Wonderful place!
