Staying with a local family is a great way to learn about American culture while you enjoy home comforts. You'll live like they live, eat what they eat and practise your English with them when you are at home.

San Francisco is a vibrant and diverse city of 800,000 inhabitants. People of many different ethnicities live in the Bay Area, and our host families reflect this diversity. Host families can include single people, couples, single-parent families, and families with multiple generations living in one home. Many of our host families are of Filipino descent, and their family-oriented culture means that they treat the students they host as part of their own family. All host families are English speaking and are eager to share the diversity of San Francisco with international visitors.

Most homes are single family or 2 family homes. The latter is usually two floors with one home on one floor and one on the other. Students are placed in a single or twin room. Each room is furnished with a bed, desk, dresser and closet. Some rooms have TVs and other amenities. It is important that rooms and living areas are kept neat and tidy. Students also have access to a shared bathroom.

Bed linen and towels are provided by the host family. Some San Francisco families do not have a washing machine in their home and use the services of a laundromat – this information will be included in the host family profile. In cases where families have a washing machine, students can use the laundry facilities although the number of washes per week remains at the discretion of each family.

Students who stay in homestay accommodation often feel their English improves quickly through talking with their homestay families every day. Homestays have a secure and friendly environment as well as being great value for money.

Most families are located in the residential areas outside of the city of San Francisco, such as Daly City, South San Francisco and Pacifica. Distance to school via public transportation is 45-60 minutes.

I REALLY loved everything! The school is fantastic! The teachers are wonderful and motivating. I really loved it, although it was impossible to cover even a part of the student’s book in two weeks. But I got some new impressions and learnt a huge amount of new vocabulary. I liked my staying at the residence. It had a good location in a nice and safe area close to the shops. It wasn’t scary to go home alone late in the evening. The only problem was with the room because it had a poor sound insulation. But I got really tired by the end of the day, so I could fall asleep easily. There was a canteen in the residence where we could communicate with other students. Included meals were a great advantage. By the way, the food was tasty and we could take it away. I highly recommend to choose housing with included meals as it allows you to save money and eat tasty food. It took me 25 minutes to get to school on foot. I really enjoyed walking there every day as everything around me was so beautiful. There were free extra classes at school and I attended reading and speaking ones. The school offered an interesting social program, but I didn’t have enough time (I came only for 2 weeks), so I had only one city tour. If you come for a month or more, that will be very useful. On the photo, you cannot see so much of San-Francisco itself, but every sight is situated close to the others, and you should also visit the outskirts of the city. Also, I have a photo from the Facebook office (full circle of the restaurant and the photo in front of the Facebook main building). I think it will be an extra motivation for IT-specialists to choose this school in San-Francisco. I’m very pleased with the trip in general because I went there for a vacation and language practice. I soon made friends and we walked around the city after the classes. We were of the same age (about 30 y.o.) and it was great. I’m really satisfied with the work of Linguatrip, everything was organized well! I chose the school, booked it and forgot about all the concerns about it, and in half a year I went to San-Francisco. I would have certainly spent much more time on that if I had organized everything by myself. I went there on a tourist visa and chose a course with 18 lessons per week (the upper limit for a tourist visa) and the school automatically reduced the course intensity. I noticed that only at the end of the course. After talking to my manager they made a recalculation and returned the left money almost at once. Super! Many thanks to the whole Linguatrip team! ...
