Bell St Albans

Enjoy discovering the English language in a beautiful and friendly school.

This year-round school is housed in an elegant Grade II listed Victorian building, within 60 acres of beautiful English countryside, providing a safe and peaceful environment. The main building - for living, teaching, learning and social events - is set around a traditional courtyard garden.

Boys and girls have separate accommodation blocks on site, each with a dedicated houseparent.

Bedrooms

The majority of bedrooms are twin rooms and include beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a chair. Where possible, we mix nationalities in bedrooms, so students are encouraged to practise their English and learn more about another culture.

Bathrooms

There are separate facilities for boys and girls and junior and senior courses. There are shared showers and toilet facilities, which are situated at strategic points throughout the accommodation.

Meals

Students are offered a choice of nutritious food at each mealtime; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every menu includes a selection of hot and cold items including fresh fruit and vegetables. Packed lunches are provided on study tours.

Snacks are available during break times and at each evening house meeting. If your child has a dietary requirement associated to an allergy, please let us know so we can accommodate this.

Winter Explorer is designed around five exciting project themes:

Students booking a course that includes 26-28 January will also enjoy a 3-day trip to Edinburgh, Scotland’s historic capital.

Project-based English lessons

30 hours per two week course

Learning through projects is particularly motivating for young learners and helps them remember the language that they learn. Working in groups, students use English to produce something tangible like a short film, a presentation, a magazine or a short story.

Project work guarantees students study something new every time. Each project is based on a theme. Spring Explorer is designed around 4 weekly project themes.

Study tours:

3 full day study tours per two week course

Students learn about British life and culture through study tours to historic UK destinations such as London, Cambridge and Brighton.

Study tours are learning opportunities outside the classroom and are part of the academic programme. Students are prepared for the study tour in class, given a task to do on the trip and have a feedback lesson afterwards. Young learners are carefully supervised on all study tours.

Activities:

27 hours per two week course

After lessons, electives, and a delicious dinner, students have an evening activity – more chance for your child to learn and practise English. Examples of evening activities include team-building challenges, treasure hunts and film nights.
