St Clare’s offers students from all over the world the opportunity to pursue a first-class education in Oxford, one of the most vibrant and interesting cities in Europe.

St Clare’s has great summer holiday English language courses for adults 17+, teenagers 15-17, and juniors 10-15 on three separate campuses in Oxford. They are proud to be able to offer quality English language courses in June, July and August to students from around the world. The college is made up of three separate campuses in a beautiful part of Oxford and each one has its own unique atmosphere – a different one for adults, teenagers and juniors.

Teachers will take that extra care to help you learn in class; activities staff will make sure you continue learning while having fun outside of class.

Students in St Clare’s have a great choice of courses;

General English for those of you who want to learn new work and improve;

Intensive or Examinations English for those who want to reach a particular goal or increase their level;

English plus Academic Subjects if you want to learn English through learning something else!

Some students like to improve their English whilst studying science in laboratories; or working on an art portfolio in the art studio; or developing their leadership and career opportunities.

Intensive English
The course is only available for booking in the following dates:
From 15 years old 17 students per class 1 lesson — 55 minutes

The Intensive and Examination English course is aimed at the more serious student. It combines integrated English Language skills, academic study skills, and examination practice with a range of activities and excursions.

English Language development: 25 lessons per week

mornings: integrated skills, learner training and study skills

afternoons: English for Academic Purposes (EAP) plus Examination skills for IELTS and Cambridge (FCE, CAE,CPE)

Level: from intermediate to advanced

Lessons focus on:

-Accuracy and fluency skills: grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing activities, conversation practice, role plays, debates, discussions, presentations

-English for Academic Purposes and Examination skills: note-taking, research, IELTS and Cambridge Examination preparation.

Length: three weeks

Students live in 15 college houses within a five-minute walk to the Banbury Road Campus. Each house accommodates between seven and 25 students, aged between 15 and 19.

The advantages of living in a college houses are:

*each house has a resident warden responsible for the welfare and care of students

*weekly and full boarding arrangements are available

*male and female students live in separate houses

*most bedrooms are twin rooms with some triple rooms

*single bedrooms are usually for second-year IB students

*three houses are specifically for younger students (15-16 years old). The wardens provide a greater degree of supervision for these younger students

*all houses have a common room and a kitchen to make drinks and snacks

*meals are provided in the dining room or the Sugar House café

*WiFi is provided in each house and in every bedroom

*students must abide by the house rules

*house rules differ slightly for students of different ages
