Maynooth is situated 24km west of Dublin, just 40 minutes from Dublin airport. All the attractions of the capital are within easy reach and the town is served by frequent bus and rail connections. In addition to the College Visitor Centre, there is much to see and enjoy in the vicinity of Maynooth, including Castle House and Celbridge Abbey.

The campus is extensive and caters for over 3,000 Irish students during the academic year. The unique blend of up to date facilities on a mature campus is the perfect setting for an International Language School.

Facilities include: a sports complex with gymnasium where students can play table tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, an indoor heated swimming pool and extensive playing fields and tennis courts.

Lessons will take place IN THE CAMPUS OF Maynooth University.


Each lesson is 100 minutes in duration and the standard two week programme for junior students in Maynooth provides them with 30 hours of General English.

Students will have two lessons per day with two different teachers, Students enjoy experiencing the teaching techniques and methods of two teachers during their course.


Lessons are delivered using the communicative approach and provide and interactive and engaging learning experience for all students. Lessons have also been developed using the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Language levels from A1 (Elementary) to Cl (Advanced).

Lessons are designed specifically for different age groups. Teachers will design lessons based on the interests of the students and each lesson will have a particular focus on communication skills. Students take regular tests in order for teachers to monitor progress and ensure students are learning during lessons.

The course is designed to develop students English language skills by integrating the key areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Host Family

Full board

Our Host Families will provide our junior students with a twin room on a full board basis. This includes breakfast and dinner in the host family and a packed lunch provided by the family. Host families will provide the students with shower facilities on a daily basis and laundering of clothes, bed-linen and towels on a weekly basis.


Accommodation will be in a twin room on a full board basis to include breakfast and dinner. Monday to Friday students will get a hot lunch on campus during the week. At the weekends, host families will provide the students with a packed lunch. Dinner is usually between 6pm and 7pm. Please inform your host family before 3pm if you will return late for dinner.

Smoking, the consumption of alcohol and other drugs is strictly forbidden and junior students are not allowed to have overnight guests.

Your host family is not obliged to give you a key. You will need to discuss the laundry arrangements with your family and shower facilities must be used at a reasonable hour.

All junior students must respect the 'return-home time' which the host family sets. Latest 'return-home time' is at 10pm.

All students staying on campus are on full board basis. Students will have breakfast, lunch and dinner on campus. Students will receive a packed lunch on Thursdays when they are on their full-day tour and on Sundays.


Ensuite residential accommodation


All of the accommodation provided is en-suite.


Accommodation is provided in modern apartments on campus.

Each apartment comprises of a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and comfortably furnished lounge. Accommodation is in single and twin rooms in apartments of 5 bedrooms with ensuite facilities.

Linen and Towels are provided by the university. During residency, towels and bed linen will be replaced once per week.


Students who have lost/misplaced room keys must be accompanied by a group leader in order to gain access to their rooms. Apartments should be left in the same condition as when students arrive.

• Students must keep their room clean and tidy.

• Students are not allowed to invite guests into the residence.

• Students who are not residing in the accommodation are not allowed to stay in the rooms.

• Girls are not allowed to stay in the Boys' rooms and vice versa.

• Students are responsible for any damages/breakages caused to school/ accommodation property.


Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living rooms will be cleaned weekly. Bins and rubbish removed by the cleaning staff daily. Rooms will be fully serviced between residencies.


There is a private self-service launderette available for students use at Maynooth University. The machines take coins and washing powder can be purchased locally or students may bring their own. A typical wash and dry costs approximately €4.


There are 24 hour security guards monitoring the campus, dealing with security related matters and responding to fire alarm activations. Students may be asked to identify themselves and respond to directions relating to safety and security.


Electronic key cards will be provided to each student. Lost key cards can be replaced by Maynooth University staff at a cost of €5 each.
