Limerick is on the west coast and is the third largest city in Ireland. It is situated on the River Shannon - Ireland’s longest river, and only 20 minutes from Shannon International Airport. The Shannon Region is a particularly beautiful part of Ireland with a dramatic Atlantic coastline offering tremendous diversity in its scenery and activities. Students stay in attractive village style accommodation in individual houses with single rooms located only 10 minutes from the city centre. All meals are served in the main university restaurant, which is close to the classroom facilities.

Facilities include: indoor heated swimming pool and diving pool, squash and tennis courts, gymnasium, athletics track, extensive playing fields and tennis courts.

Lessons will take place on campus at the University of Limerick.


Each lesson is 100 minutes in duration and the standard two week programme for junior students in University Limerick provides them with 30 hours of General English and 10 hours of World of Work classes.

Students will have two lessons of General English per day with two different teachers in the morning and two lessons of 2 and a half hours each per week of World of Work, a total of 40 hours tuition in two weeks. Hours completed will be included in the final certificate.


Lessons are delivered using the communicative approach and provide and interactive and engaging learning experience for all students. Lessons have also been developed using the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Language levels fromAI (Elementary) to Cl (Advanced).

Lessons are designed specifically for different age groups. Teachers will design lessons based on the interests of the students and each lesson will have a particular focus on communication skills. Students take regular tests in order for teachers to monitor progress and ensure students are learning during lessons.

The course is designed to develop students English language skills by integrating the key areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Student Residense

All students staying in the residence are on full board basis. Students will have breakfast, lunch and dinner on campus. Students will receive a packed lunch on Saturdays and Sundays when they are on their full-day tour.


Dromroe Village has single rooms, en-suite accommodation with separate living area.


The Dromroe village apartments have 4,5 or 6 rooms. The bedrooms are all en-suite single rooms. Each apartment comprises of a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and comfortably furnished lounge.

Bedrooms, kitchen and living rooms will be cleaned and rubbish removed by the cleaning staff during the week. During residency, towels and bed linen will be replaced once per week. Rooms will fully serviced between residencies.


There is a private self-service launderette available for the students use at the University of Limerick. The machines take coins and wash ing powder can be purchased locally or students may bring their own. A typical wash and dry costs approximately €4.


• Students who have lost/misplaced room keys must be accompanied by a group leader in order to gain access to their rooms. Rooms should be left in the same condition as when students arrive.

• Students must keep their room clean and tidy.

• Students are not allowed to invite guests into the residence.

• Students who are not residing in the accommodation are not allowed to stay in the rooms.

• Girls are not allowed to stay in the Boys' rooms and vice versa.

• Students are responsible for any damages/breakages caused to school/ accommodation property.


There are 24 hour security guards monitoring the campus, dealing with security related matters and responding to fire alarm activations. Students may be asked to identify themselves and respond to directions relating to safety and security.


Electronic key cards will be provided to each student. Lost key cards can be replaced by the University of Limerick staff at a cost of €25 each.

The people I've met here are amazing and the teachers who accompany me are great, as well as the classes. The classes are informative and interesting, but they never get bored thanks to the teachers. One day isn't like the other, with all the international friends I've made and everything I've learned so far. Till now it's an amazing experience:)
