Blackrock is a suburb of Dublin.

It is a largely residential area located 7 km south of the city centre. A fashionable seaside resort in the eighteenth century, the town gets its name from the black rocks that lies off-shore which once marked the city limits. An ancient Celtic cross still stands in the main street.

Blackrock College, including Willow Park, is a large educational complex. It has extensive wooded parklands and playing fields of some 64 acres, with a magnificent view of Dublin Bay. The college is located beside Booterstown DART station and the city centre is only a 10 minute train journey or a 25 minute bus ride away.

Facilities include: indoor swimming pool, numerous soccer and rugby playing fields, tennis courts, athletic track (on grass), basketball and volley ball courts, games room and common room.


Junior Summer Course
The course is only available for booking in the following dates:
From 11 to 17 years old 15 students per class 1 lesson — 100 minutes


• 15 hours of English language tuition per week

• Alternate weekly morning and afternoon classes

• Use of textbook and other learning materials

• Graded certificate and end of course report

• Organised sports activities

• 3 half-day activities per week incuding Arts & Crafts, drama and Irish sports

• 3 cultural half-day excursions over 2 weeks by coach including entrance fee

• 1 full-day excursion by coach per week with entrance fee

• Residential evening programmes includes discos, Irish night, films and other activities.

Host family: two discos per week.

• Airport transfers are NOT included

• Residential students have a laundry facility provided weekly

• Towels are NOT provided by the college

• Any damage caused by a student must be paid for immediately

• €50 damage deposit required on arrival to be refunded in event of non-use

Host Family

All of our Host Families are inspected by our Accommodation Manager and are carefully selected for their high standards along with their friendliness and hospitality.

Our Host Families will provide our junior students with a twin room on a full board basis. This includes breakfast, packed lunch and dinner (Monday-Sunday). Shower facilities on a daily basis and laundering of clothes, bed-linen and towels on a weekly basis.

Our Host Families are located in the South of Dublin city in areas such as Donnybrook, Sandymount, Booterstown, Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire and Glenageary. All Host Families are within a short walk of public transport.


Accommodation will be in a twin room on a full board basis and will include breakfast, packed lunch and dinner (Monday-Sunday).

Dinner is usually eaten early between 6pm and 7pm. Please inform your host family before 3pm if you will return late for dinner.

Smoking, the consumption of alcohol and other drugs is strictly forbidden and junior students are not allowed to have overnight guests.

Your host family is not obliged to give you a key. You will need to discuss the laundry arrangements with your family and shower facilities must be used at a reasonable hour.

All junior students must respect the 'return-home time' which the host family sets. Latest 'return- home time' is at 10pm.

All students staying in the residence are on a full board basis. Students will have breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday to Friday and at the weekends, will have breakfast and dinner on campus and will receive a packed lunch. Wi fi is available on campus.

Students staying in Host Families are also on full board basis, however they will receive a packed lunch daily. There is a supplement for host family students of €50 per week if they wish have hot lunches in the college Monday to Friday. This request must be made at time of booking.


Accommodation in Blackrock college is divided into twin, triple and four bedded rooms. Showers and toilets are situated on each floor. Multi-bedded rooms are also available for younger students.


Bathrooms and showers are located on each floor.


The castle which is a listed Georgian property has undergone extensive refurbishment in the last 3 years and accommodates approximately 100 people.

Students who have lost/misplaced room keys must be accompanied by a group leader in order to gain access to their rooms. Rooms should be left in the same condition as when students arrive.

•Students must keep their room clean and tidy

•Students are not allowed to invite guests into the residence

•Students who are not residing in the accommodation are not allowed to stay in the rooms

•Girls are not allowed to stay in the boys' rooms and vice versa

•Students are responsible for any damages/breakages caused to school/ accommodation property


There are 24 hour security guards monitoring the campus, dealing with security related matters and responding to fire alarm activations. Students may be asked to identify themselves and respond to directions relating to safety and security.


Bedrooms will be cleaned daily and rubbish removed by the cleaning staff during the week. During occupancy bed line will be replaced once per week. Rooms will be fully serviced between occupancies.


Room keys will be provided to each student. Lost or broken keys can be replaced by Blackrock College staff at a cost of €50 each, should a key be subsequently found the cost will be refunded to the student.


Laundry for students staying in the college is included in the package and is done once a week.
